Weird Tales is an American fantasy and horror fiction pulp magazine founded by J. C. Henneberger and J. M. Lansinger in late 1922. The first issue, dated March 1923, appeared on newsstands February 18.
Prophetic tales of dark fantasy, cosmic horror, supernatural revenge, and the sorcery of terror. From March of 1923 to September of 1954, Weird Tales was the most influential of all pulp magazines in the horror and fantasy genres. This magazine provided a publishing forum which focused "on the weird, the bizarre, the unusual," which initially was considered taboo and avoided by all other fiction magazines.
